Genee Consulting Ltd is proud to announce the launch of the North West Resources Forum (NWRF), a dedicated platform aimed at enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the waste and resources sector in North West England. The inaugural event is scheduled for April 29, 2025, at the Greater Manchester Renew Hub in Trafford Park.
The forum will bring together waste sector organisations to share best practice in waste, recycling, and resource management. This initiative has been developed following long-standing success of the North East Recycling Forum (NERF), which has been fostering industry collaboration for over 35 years.
The launch event is being hosted at the Renew Hub, which is operated by Suez Recycling and Recovery UK as part of their waste contracts with Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). The Hub service as a central facility for sorting, repairing, and upcycling items donated across Greater Manchester’s 20 recycling centres. Since its inception in 2021, the Renew initiative has raised over £1.5 million for local good causes by reselling quality second-hand items, diverting them from waste and supporting community projects.
The circular economy model, which emphasises reducing waste and extending the lifespan of products through recycling and reuse, presents significant opportunities for the waste management industry. Transitioning from traditional linear waste systems to circular practices can recover substantial material value and significantly reduce C02 emissions and is something that is topical for the North West Resources Forum’s attendees.
Claire Williams, Renew Manager at the Renew Hub, said: “The Renew Hub is pleased to be supporting the North West Resources Forum by hosting their launch event. Our drive is to help people see the value of waste and the real benefits that can be achieved by wasting less and reusing, and this education piece is something the NWRF shares.”
The NWRF’s quarterly meetings will provide a platform for stakeholders to explore innovative strategies and share insights on implementing circular economy principles. By fostering collaboration among public, private, and community sectors, the forum aims to drive sustainable practices and contribute to the region’s environmental and economic well-being.
Jo Holmes, Managing Director of Genee Consulting and NWRF Secretariat, said: “It is fantastic to get the support of the Renew Hub for the launch of the North West Resources Forum. The ethos of the Renew Hub to create value from waste is a brilliant fit for the North West Resources Forum’s drive to support the sharing of best practice and innovation in the waste sector, so we’re really please to be able to host the launch at this innovative initiative.”
There is still time to register for the NWRF’s launch event on the 29th April, book your place here, or email info@nwrf.org.uk for more information.
