The North West Resources Forum (NWRF) is proud to announce WRAP as the first official ‘Friend’ of the newly launched North West Resources Forum.

The North West Resources Forum is a new industry initiative set up to enhance collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the waste and resources sector in North West England. Genee Consulting Ltd is proud to be the driving force behind the North West Resources Forum (NWRF), a dedicated platform bringing together professionals from public, private and third-sector organisations. The inaugural event will take place on 29th April 2025, at the Renew Hub in Trafford Park.

The NWRF, a not-for-profit initiative, will deliver free quarterly meetings for the sector across the North West region. To ensure the long term sustainability of the forum, it is launching the ‘Friends of NWRF’ scheme. The sponsorship scheme enables the forum to deliver free quarterly meetings and an annual conference and offer participants the chance to raise their profiles across the North West.

The Friends of North West Resources Forum initiative offers organisations the chance to support NWRF through three tiers of sponsorship – Bronze, Silver, and Gold – each providing exclusive benefits. Supporters gain early access to NWRF events with benefits including 48-hour priority booking, priority speaking slots at meetings, stand space at the annual conference, and promotional opportunities through NWRF’s network.

WRAP’s commitment as the first ‘Friend’ of NWRF highlights the importance of strengthening regional collaboration to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

Claire Shrewsbury, Director of Insights and Innovation at WRAP, commented: "Initiatives like the North West Resources Forum (NWRF) are pivotal in order to enhance and strengthen our knowledge-sharing and enable key collaboration opportunities. We are proud to be the first ‘Friend’ and look forward to meeting organisations and seeing how we can best support them".

The Friends of North West Resources Forum scheme is now open to organisations across the region looking to support the future of waste, recycling, and resources management. Whether at the Bronze, Silver, or Gold level, organisations can play a vital role in supporting the network to deliver free meetings for the sector, sharing best practice and networking opportunities.

Jo Holmes, Managing Director at Genee Consulting and Secretariat of NWRF, commented: “We’re so pleased to have got the support of industry leaders like WRAP to launch the NWRF. Having WRAP as our first ‘Friend’ is an incredible milestone for NWRF. This support ensures that we can launch the forum, which is designed to offer a space for businesses, local authorities, and third-sector organisations to connect, share best practices, and drive change. Our Friends of the North East Recycling Forum has been long term supporters as they see the benefit NERF brings to the region. We look forward to welcoming more ‘Friends’ to help strengthen our new regional network.”
